Microsoft 365 Lead / Collaboration Architect

Location: Sacramento, CA (Hybrid)
Duration: Long-Term Contract

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Microsoft 365 Lead to drive enterprise-wide adoption, governance, and optimization of the Microsoft 365 platform for a large public-sector organization. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for modern workplace transformation initiatives, SharePoint Online migration projects, Teams adoption, Power Platform governance, and AI-driven productivity solutions.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise across the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record leading enterprise collaboration and digital transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Microsoft 365 adoption and modernization initiatives across multiple departments.

  • Drive the migration of on-premises SharePoint environments to SharePoint Online.

  • Lead Microsoft Teams and SharePoint Online adoption efforts at the departmental and enterprise levels.

  • Develop and execute strategies to replace legacy Project Server Online solutions.

  • Ensure smooth day-to-day operation and administration of the Microsoft 365 environment.

  • Communicate Microsoft roadmap updates and emerging technologies to leadership and stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with Desktop Support teams on Microsoft 365 application support.

  • Establish support processes, governance standards, and operational procedures.

  • Build and lead a Power Platform development practice and DevOps framework.

  • Facilitate Microsoft 365 integrations with business applications and third-party systems.

  • Manage licensing and provisioning for premium Microsoft services.

  • Lead adoption initiatives for Microsoft Copilot and GitHub Copilot.

  • Partner with Security teams on tenant administration, compliance, and governance changes.

  • Collaborate with Web, ECM, Infrastructure, and Application teams on SharePoint administration and integrations.

Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience supporting and administering Microsoft 365 environments.

  • Strong experience with:

    • Microsoft 365 (M365 / Office 365)

    • SharePoint Online

    • Microsoft Teams

    • Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI)

    • Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)

    • Microsoft Copilot and AI-enabled productivity tools

  • Experience leading enterprise-scale SharePoint migration projects.

  • Experience developing governance, adoption, and operational frameworks.

  • Strong understanding of Microsoft licensing models and tenant administration.

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional business and technical teams.

  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Project Online or Project Server migrations.

  • Power Platform Center of Excellence (CoE) implementation experience.

  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD processes.

  • Experience in government, public sector, or large enterprise environments.

  • Microsoft certifications related to Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power Platform, or Azure.

  • Experience with Microsoft Purview, Compliance, and Security Center.
