Mergers & Acquisitions Manager

As HR Mergers & Acquisitions Manager, you play a pivotal role in ABB's strategic portfolio evolution. Working closely with Business HR, HR functions, Business M&A, and crossfunctional teams, you drive successful people outcomes across M&A activities in all ABB Business Areas - from preNBIO through postclose integration. As part of ABB's global HR M&A team, you contribute to HR M&A strategy, standards and tools; guide both small and large, complex transactions, and ensure ABB navigates talent, culture, cost, and organizational challenges with excellence and speed.


Key responsibilities:

  • Partner with business HR to steer the HR workstream across global M&A transactions (acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, spinoffs), providing strategic advice and handson expertise across the M&A lifecycle-from due diligence and negotiations through Day 1 readiness and integration or separation.

  • Advise business HRs about what to expect, the stakeholders, the M&A process and priorities, and play a key role as Manager in making strategic decisions, keeping the best interest of ABB and the acquired / divested unit in mind.

  • Support the creation of workplans, timelines, governance, resource and budget planning, separation and integration strategies, and HR risk and cost assessments including mitigation strategies.

  • Advise on retention, performance, and key talent strategies to protect deal value.

  • Ensure all HR M&A activities adhere to ABB global policies, labour laws, and regulatory requirements to protect ABB's interest.

  • Ensure optimal collaboration across HR, business, cross-functional teams, external advisors, and buyers/sellers, effectively problem-solving HR or cross functional issues, avoiding escalations towards the business.

  • Oversee and contribute to HR specialty areas as required (labour law, rewards, benefits, pensions, GDPR, HRIS, payroll, culture, communications, change management, HR governance, TOM, talent acquisition and people development).

  • Build and scale HR M&A capabilities across the global HR community through targeted training, practical tools, and bestpractice sharing, while continuously improving HR M&A processes to ensure readiness for evolving M&A strategies and HR trends.


Your background:

  • HR generalist with strong, strategic and hands on M&A experience gained as an HRBP, HR M&A specialist, or project leader.

  • Solid understanding of endtoend HR processes and their application in M&A environments.

  • Strong project management capabilities in complex, global settings, balancing structure with flexibility.

  • Proven ability to engage, influence, and communicate effectively with senior and diverse stakeholders in high-stake environments.

  • Businessdriven and pragmatic, with strong business acumen, a strategic and analytical mindset, and a genuine passion for M&A.

  • Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity, delivering results under uncertainty.

  • Fluent in English, with advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and digital collaboration tools.

Location:

  • The preferred location is flexible in Europe and Eastern time zone of US.

  • The work model for the role is hybrid or remote, requiring flexibility to work across time zones.
