Description

The Mentoring 4 Kids Program Manager is responsible for the coordination and operation of the Mentoring 4 Kids program. This position includes all recruitment of participants, conducting all orientations, screening, and interviewing of every applicant, and training of volunteers and matches to meet the goals and objectives of the program. Maintaining bi-weekly contact with all matches, maintaining documentation and conducting annual reviews and evaluations to assure compliance with standards of best practice. Facilitate all terminations.


Location - work is done both in office (with remote flexibility) and out in the field

Mentoring Program Manager Essential Responsibilities:

  • Maintain matches of mentors and children in M4K program through ongoing supervision of volunteers, children and single parent families. Outreach efforts to include communication with all community educators in Palm Beach County (Boynton Beach to Tequesta), public and private schools, corporations, mental health professionals, clubs and organizations, churches and synagogues, adult communities, social service agencies, and assist with all press releases, public relations, and community presentations. Work collaboratively with Director of Marketing and Communications at AJFS to include local, and general press. Maintain good standing with Mentor Center of Palm Beach County and attend all trainings and quarterly network meetings as required 
  • Complete all screenings, and interviews for all interested applicants, to include: home visits, pre-match meetings, reference checks, obtaining prior psychological or schools records, background checks (processed through Human Resources including fingerprinting, driving history drug and TB testing) and maintain all documentation for contacts with clients and volunteers. 
  • Document all meetings with mentors and mentees.
  • Work with the Director on understanding the United Way grant and its deliverables and budget.  
  • Work with the Director of M4K and Accounting, on the United Way quarterly reports and any other Foundation grants the program receives including but not limited to adherence to grant report deadlines and ensure documentation is accurate.  
  • Plan and implement the M4K yearly events and activities. Collaborate with the Director and Coordinator to ensure events are aligned within budget. 
  • Attend the Friday Communication meetings and staff meetings.
  • Work with the Director on any financial assistance requests from the families to make sure all documentation and necessary paperwork is filled out and received for management review.     
  • Work with the Coordinator to maintain and strengthen matches utilizing monthly workshops and training, bi-weekly contacts with all participants, annual reviews of volunteers and matches, and clinical oversight of all program participants. Trainings to include communication skills, boundaries, trust, decision-making, and developmental stages of children.  
  • In conjunction with the Program Director responsible for determination of need for match closure as indicated. 
  • Coordinate group activities when available, to include solicitation for complementary admission for local cultural events, organization of outings and other sponsored events, collaborating with local agencies for social and recreational programming.
  • Keep program participants informed of all workshops and group events
  • Responsible for quarterly impact stories and monthly program metrics

Requirements

  • Degree from an accredited institution in Social Work or related field.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years in clinical experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, public speaking, and good organizational skills.
  • Typing and basic computer skills.
  • Must possess a basic knowledge of values and be sensitive to cultural differences.
  • Flexibility in hours in necessary, to include evening presentations, Some weekend events on Sunday.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
