Technical Program Manager (Defense & Aerospace Electronics)

Location: Orlando, FL

Employment Type: Full-Time | Onsite

Compensation: $120,000 โ€“ $135,000

Position Overview

A growing defense and aerospace electronics manufacturer is seeking a Technical Program Manager to serve as the primary customer interface and internal program leader for complex hardware development and production programs.

This role leads cross-functional execution across engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and operations to ensure program success across technical performance, schedule, cost, and deliverables. The Technical Program Manager will work directly with defense prime contractors, government stakeholders, and internal teams throughout the full product lifecycleโ€”from development through production and sustainment.

This is an ideal opportunity for an engineer who has transitioned into program or project leadership and enjoys customer-facing responsibility, technical coordination, and driving accountability across multiple functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary customer point of contact for assigned defense and aerospace programs
  • Lead Integrated Product Team (IPT) activities across engineering, manufacturing, quality, operations, procurement, and leadership
  • Drive program execution by managing schedules, milestones, risks, action items, and deliverables
  • Coordinate technical and design reviews, customer meetings, and program status reporting
  • Support customer communications throughout development, qualification, production, and sustainment phases
  • Partner closely with engineering teams to maintain technical alignment and resolve issues
  • Track program performance and proactively identify risks with mitigation plans
  • Coordinate internal resources to ensure contractual and customer commitments are met
  • Support proposal development, customer presentations, program documentation, and business development activities
  • Interface directly with defense primes, government customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
  • Facilitate collaboration between engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams
  • Contribute to improvements in program management processes, tools, and best practices

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Engineering Technology, Program Management, Business, or related technical field
  • 3+ years of experience in project/program management, systems engineering, technical leadership, or related role
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, government, or highly regulated industries
  • Strong customer-facing communication and presentation skills
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and managing competing priorities
  • Ability to manage schedules, deliverables, risks, and customer expectations
  • Experience participating in technical/design reviews or engineering development activities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Project or similar tools
  • Ability to work onsite in a collaborative engineering/manufacturing environment
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Systems Engineering
  • Direct experience with defense prime contractors and government customers
  • Background in embedded systems, electronics, hardware development, or system integration
  • Experience in Integrated Product Team (IPT) environments
  • Familiarity with product development lifecycles, qualification testing, and production transitions
  • Experience supporting proposals, technical documentation, and customer presentations
  • PMP certification or formal program management training
  • Experience in AS9100 or similar regulated quality environments
  • Knowledge of military electronics, embedded computing, video processing, or related systems
