The Member Advocate Specialist plays a pivotal role in supporting members of Christian Healthcare Ministries (CHM) within the healthcare industry, ensuring exceptional customer service. In this role, the Member Advocate Specialist embodies the values and commitment of Christian Healthcare Ministries, ensuring that members receive the highest level of support, guidance, and advocacy throughout their healthcare.

Essential Job Functions



  • Attend to member inquiries via phone and email promptly, with a sense of urgency.
  • Evaluate medical bills for accuracy and completeness, negotiating the highest possible discounts for CHM members.
  • Verify and update member information as required.
  • Research and connect members with relevant financial assistance programs.
  • Review and address member concerns, escalating issues to management when necessary.
  • Ensure members have access to quality providers.
  • Uphold CHM's mission, vision, values, and customer service standards.
  • Offer emotional support and empathy to members, demonstrating a commitment to their well-being.
  • Excel in a team environment and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Maintain a consistently professional demeanor throughout interactions.


Experience Requirements



  • High School Diploma or successful completion of a high school equivalency exam.
  • Proficient in PC operation, including information systems/applications.
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Familiarity with routine office equipment operation (e.g., faxes, copy machines, printers, multi-line telephones).
  • Knowledge of the healthcare field, including medical billing, is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, coupled with active listening.
  • Compensation commensurate with experience.
  • Willingness to perform other job duties as assigned by management.
  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk.
