Medical Records Clerk

Our client, a Behavioral Health company, is looking for a Medical Records Clerk for their Leland, NC location.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensures accurate, complete, and compliant medical records through review, documentation, and timely preparation for billing; may perform coding using ICD-10/CPT. Essential Functions
  • Prepare, review, and maintain medical records for accuracy and completeness.
  • Process record requests and ensure proper release of information.
  • Analyze records, assign deficiencies, and abstract clinical data.
  • Manage filing, storage, retrieval, and audits of records.
  • Maintain patient index and support transcription/documentation processes.
  • May assign diagnostic and procedural codes.
  • Follow policies, maintain confidentiality, and complete required training.
  • Ensure reliable attendance and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1+ year medical records experience (psychiatric setting preferred).
  • Knowledge of HIM practices, confidentiality, and documentation standards.
  • RHIT or RHIA preferred.
