Job description

About the Position

The Mechanical Project Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Mechanical Change Order Estimating team by coordinating project information, assisting with estimate preparation, and ensuring accurate and timely project deliverables. In this role, you'll work alongside experienced estimators to support the pricing of mechanical change order work across multifamily and commercial projects while developing the technical knowledge and estimating skills needed for continued career growth at Power Design.

Position Responsibilities

  • Support the Mechanical Change Order Estimating team throughout the estimating process by coordinating project information and maintaining estimating timelines.

  • Receive new project documents and evaluate their contents to conceptually understand the project, including building type, mechanical systems, key scope elements, and change order requirements.

  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents to assist with quantity takeoffs and estimate preparation.

  • Perform necessary research to support accurate, complete, and competitive pricing.

  • Source, contact, and coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain pricing and supporting documentation.

  • Communicate with customers and internal project teams to define project scope, resolve deficiencies, and support pricing efforts.

  • Maintain organized estimating files, track project milestones, and ensure deliverables are completed on schedule.

  • Partner with Operations to ensure the successful handoff of awarded change order work.

  • Continuously develop knowledge of mechanical systems, estimating processes, and Power Design's preconstruction operations.

Here's What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent mechanical construction experience.

  • 1-3 years of mechanical estimating experience, preferably supporting multifamily, commercial, or design-build construction projects.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Accubid or other estimating software is preferred.

  • Ability to multitask in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment while managing competing priorities.

  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and efficient.

  • A motivated problem solver with a strong customer service mindset and a desire to continue developing within mechanical estimating.
