Job Description

This is a daylight position, with rotating on-call periods nights and weekends. 

  • Install, modify, repair, troubleshoot, test, and load new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment.
  • Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
  • Install, modify, repair, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and load new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment.
  • Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment, following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications, using hand tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment.
  • Installs power supply wiring and conduct for newly installed machines and equipment, conveyors, and programmable controllers, following electrical code, using hand tools and voltage tester.
  • Repairs and maintains, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as die units, glue units, conveyor systems, bindery equipment, etc. using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments. May repair or reproduce parts using welders or machine tools such as drill presses, or other machine shop equipment.
  • Follows electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications.
  • Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment, using hand tools and test equipment.
  • Replaces AC/DC motors. May plan layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
  • Detects malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, using test equipment, and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables, using hand tools.
  • May diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
  • Perform tasks safely in accordance with OSHA and LOTO standards.
Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge of the construction, installation, operation, and troubleshooting of sophisticated circuitry and controls associated with unique projects.
  • Must have skill in the use of hand tools, power tools and test equipment needed to perform job effectively.
  • Must have experience troubleshooting problems with baler systems, air compressors, air dryers.
  • Must have PLC and DC drive experience including troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge and ability to anticipate and respond quickly to danger signs as they become evident through intricate warning systems to avoid loss of time and expensive equipment.
  • Knowledge of using a multi-meter.
  • Knowledge of PLC systems a must.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical industrial equipment. Must be able to troubleshoot without prints and troubleshoot older equipment without PLC’s. The ability to troubleshoot AC and DC, digital and analog drives from 1/3 to 100 horsepower is also required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot proprietary electronics
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to work overtime, Some weekends required on-call.
  • Must possess good communication skills and be customer oriented.
  • Successful candidates should be able to work in a team environment but also be a self-starter who can work without instructions and/or with little supervision.

Additional Information

The salary range for this role at the noted RRD location is $24 - $35 / hour. Starting pay decisions are determined based on multiple factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, proficiency, performance, shift, location, and other business needs. Typically, roles follow step progressions to a target rate or set increments over time. Depending on the role, in addition to the hourly rate of pay, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and/or stand-by pay. RRD’s benefit offerings include medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, disability insurance, 401(k) with company match, life insurance and other voluntary supplemental insurance coverages, plus parental leave, adoption assistance, tuition assistance and employer/partner discounts.
