Job description


Mechanical Technician IV supports mechanical engineers in the development, testing, fabrication, and assembly of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. This role is responsible for building, modifying, and testing prototypes and production assemblies while ensuring adherence to engineering specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
This is a first shift position working a 4/10 schedule-Monday-Thursday.
(5:30am-4:00pm)

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist engineers in the design, development, and modification of mechanical and electromechanical components and systems
  • Fabricate, assemble, and test prototype units and subassemblies under operational conditions
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions
  • Draft detailed fabrication drawings and support design updates
  • Perform assembly of electromechanical and electronic systems, including wiring and soldering
  • Install and hand-solder electronic components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs)
  • Build and connect wire harnesses using crimping tools and soldering techniques
  • Set up and operate production equipment (e.g., ovens, wire cutters, strippers, crimpers)
  • Diagnose technical issues and implement corrective actions through completion
  • Repair circuit card assemblies, cables, and full system assemblies
  • Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to resolve development and production challenges
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards

Required Skills and Education
  • High school diploma OR GED, Trade school equivalent
  • 3+ years of relevant manufacturing experience (or equivalent experience)
  • Hands-on experience using hand and power tools
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical instructions
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration abilities
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on safety and quality
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
  • Fluent in English

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to frequently bend, twist, and reach
  • Ability to lift 50-75 lbs regularly
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including weekends, as needed

Preferred Skills and Education
  • IPC-A-610 Certification
  • J-STD-001 and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certification
  • Technical degree in a related field
