We are looking for a Drop Ball Crane Operator - Night to join our team in Braddock, PA.

Schedule: NIGHTS (includes weekends)

Pay: Up to $29.40 per hour (based on experience)

The Drop Ball Crane Operator is responsible for operating the overhead crane with a drop ball attachment to perform metal cutting, breaking, and scrap handling operations in the steel mill. The role requires precision, attention to safety, and experience working in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate overhead cranes equipped with drop ball attachments to break up scrap metal and other materials.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient movement of materials within the mill.
  • Maintain equipment and conduct routine inspections to ensure safe operation.
  • Follow safety protocols and work with a team to ensure compliance with all safety standards.
  • Assist in material loading/unloading processes as needed.
  • Document crane operations and report any malfunctioning equipment to maintenance personnel.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a crane operator or in a similar role within an industrial setting (steel mill experience preferred).
  • Valid crane operator certification (e.g., NCCCO or equivalent).
  • Proven ability to operate overhead cranes safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to work in a high-temperature, noisy, and physically demanding environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and safety compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Crane/Excavator experience preferred
  • Experience in steel mill operations.
  • Knowledge of the drop ball process and its applications.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
