Description

The Meat & Seafood Merchandiser is responsible for supporting the overall growth, execution, and consistency of Plum Market’s Meat & Seafood departments. This role supports exceptional Guest Service, product quality, merchandising standards, inventory control, Team Member training, and new product development.

The Meat & Seafood Merchandiser partners with Store Leadership, Team Leaders, Team Members, vendors, and Support Office teams to ensure all Meat & Seafood departments are operating with strong product integrity, clear standards, and a focus on sales, profitability, and Guest experience.

Who you are

You model and provide exceptional Guest Service.

You have a passion for natural, organic, specialty meats, and seafood.

You are knowledgeable about meat and seafood products, including quality, handling, storage, preparation, and cooking recommendations.

You are a strong communicator and can work effectively with Team Members, Store Leadership, vendors, and Support Office teams.

You lead by example and take pride in developing others.

You are detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.

You are comfortable traveling to support new store openings, vendor meetings, training, and industry events.

What you will bring

A minimum of 3 years of related experience in Meat and Seafood.

Experience as a butcher, meat cutter, or in a similar meat and seafood role.

Strong knowledge of meat cutting techniques, product selection, food safety, sanitation, labeling, rotation, and department standards.

Experience creating, maintaining, and executing merchandising plans and planograms.

The ability to train, coach, and support Team Members and Team Leaders.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

A working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software systems.

The ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

The ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.

The ability to bend, stoop, climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, and push or pull carts weighing up to 100 lbs. unassisted.

What you will do

Model and provide exceptional Guest Service.

Support strong Meat & Seafood merchandising standards across Plum Market locations.

Partner with Store Leadership, Team Leaders, and Team Members to ensure department standards are consistently executed.

Create and support seasonal displays, promotional programs, and merchandising opportunities.

Work with vendors and internal teams to identify product specials, seasonal opportunities, and new product offerings.

Support product development from start to finish, including pricing, signage, placement, Team Member training, and sampling.

Train, coach, and develop Team Members to improve product knowledge, ordering, profitability, sales, and overall department performance.

Support Team Leaders in the continued growth and development of Plum Market’s Meat & Seafood programs.

Assist with recruiting, hiring, and evaluating leadership and supervisory roles within the department.

Review reports and work with store teams to execute promotional plans and operational goals.

Support the department in meeting sales, margin, labor, and profitability goals.

Maintain and update order guides, vendor information, purchasing documents, and rebate programs.

Monitor inventory practices to ensure accuracy, consistency, and product integrity across locations.

Organize and participate in vendor meetings on a monthly or quarterly basis.

Coordinate vendor product demonstrations and training opportunities.

Ensure all Meat & Seafood departments follow Plum Market policies, procedures, food safety standards, sanitation expectations, and department guidelines.

Communicate clearly and professionally with Guests, Team Members, Store Leadership, vendors, and Support Office partners.

Complete all tasks with accuracy, urgency, and attention to detail.
