Assistant Meat Manager

Are you a meat department professional ready to take the next step into leadership? We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Meat Manager to join our team. In this role, you will partner closely with the Meat Manager to deliver exceptional guest service, uphold merchandising excellence, and support the overall success of the department through strong operational execution.

Job Summary

The Assistant Meat Manager plays a key role in ensuring the department runs smoothly and efficiently, from inventory management to team supervision. This position supports the Meat Manager in achieving margin goals, labor budget targets, and maintaining the highest standards of product quality, pricing integrity, and merchandising. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and is passionate about mentoring team members while delivering an outstanding guest experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead daily department operations in the absence of the Meat Manager, ensuring consistent guest service standards are met
  • Assist in managing department inventory levels to minimize shrink and maximize product availability
  • Support the Meat Manager in monitoring margin performance and labor budgets to meet financial targets
  • Ensure pricing integrity across all products through regular audits and corrections
  • Coordinate ordering, receiving, and unloading of product deliveries to maintain optimal stock levels
  • Oversee proper storage and rotation procedures to maintain product freshness and reduce waste
  • Train, coach, and supervise Team Members on safety protocols, product knowledge, and guest service standards
  • Build and maintain visually appealing product displays that meet merchandising standards and drive sales
  • Monitor case presentation and cleanliness to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
Required Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a meat department or similar retail/grocery environment
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and train team members effectively
  • Strong understanding of inventory management, ordering, and receiving processes
  • Knowledge of proper food storage, rotation, and safety standards
