Job description

Cut, trim, or prepare consumer-sized portions of meat for use or sale in retail establishments.

Job Tasks

  • Wrap, weigh, label and price cuts of meat.
  • Prepare meat products for sale or consumption.
  • Prepare and place meat cuts and products on the display counter, so they will appear attractive and catch the shopper's eye.
  • Prepare special cuts of meat ordered by customers.
  • Cut meat products.
  • Cut, trim, bone, tie, and grind meats, such as beef, pork,lamb, poultry, and fish, to prepare meat in cooking form.
  • Track grind reports (scanning system)
  • Make sausage
  • Prep meat based recipes for kitchen use
  • Utilize prep list for daily tasks, cleaning and communication.
  • Prep, make marinades and other items to accommodate meat production.
  • Prepare meat products for sale or consumption.
    Cut meat products.
  • Direct operational or production activities.
  • Receive, inspect, and store meat upon delivery, to ensure meat quality.
  • Inspect, rotate and utilize all meat to maximize profits
  • Record quantity of meat received and issued to cooks or keep records of meat sales.
  • Record operational or production data.
  • Shape, lace, and tie roasts, using boning knife, skewer, and twine.
  • Cleaning of meat cutters areas, equipment and kitchen area.
  • Confer with customers or designers to determine order specifications.
  • Assist Kitchen team with preparing meals, prepping and cleaning.
  • Assist in the Store to meet or exceed financial targets
  • Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
  • Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
  • A team player with good communication skills
  • Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
  • Very good physical condition and endurance, lift minuum of 50 lbs
  • Offer Counter assistance and register as needed
  • High school diploma or equivalent is desirable; Training from a culinary school will be an asset
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, or silverware.
  • Clean food preparation areas, facilities, or equipment.
  • Store food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage.
  • Store supplies or goods in kitchens or storage areas
  • Load dishes, lugs, bus tubs into dishwashing machines and put away
  • Remove trash and clean the kitchen
