Job summary

Responsible for grinding, cutting, trimming, or preparing consumer-sized portions of meat for use or sale.

Summary of essential job functions

  • Immediately greets all customers and ensures customer satisfaction.
  • Use knives, cleavers, meat saws, bandsaws, or other equipment to perform meat cutting and trimming.
  • Clean, trim, slice, and section primals and meat for future processing or packaging.
  • Remove parts, such as skin, feathers, scales or bones, from primals.
  • Cut, trim, bone, tie, and grind meats, such as beef, pork, poultry, and fish, to prepare meat in cooking form.
  • Receive, inspect, and store meat upon delivery, to ensure meat quality.
  • Shape, lace, and tie roasts, using boning knife, skewer, and twine.
  • Inspect meat products for defects, bruises or blemishes and remove them along with any excess fat.
  • Produce hamburger meat and meat trimmings.
  • Separate meats and byproducts into specified containers and seal containers.
  • Wrap, weigh, label and price cuts of meat.
  • Prepare and display meat cuts in display counter, so they will appear attractive and catch the shopper's eye.
  • Prepare special cuts of meat ordered by customers.
  • Estimate requirements and order meat supplies to maintain inventories.
  • Record quantity of meat received and issued to other departments and/or keep records of meat sales.
  • Complete specials projects and other duties as assigned
  • Timely and consistent attendance.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including holidays and weekends

Knowledge, skills and abilities required

  • Previous meat cutter experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and use organizational skills
  • 2-3 Years Meat cutting experience preferred.
