POSITION TITLE: Intervention Assistant
HOURS: 29 hours per week, Monday through Friday 8:00 am- 2:30 pm
WAGE: $15.40 per hour
BENEFITS: Paid time off
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Intervention Assistants work directly under the supervision of licensed classroom teachers and the licensed Title I Lead Teacher. All Intervention Assistants are responsible to ensure the safety and instruction of students across all activities and locations. Also, Intervention Assistants are responsible to maintain complete confidentiality about students and their records.
REPORTS TO:
The Intervention Assistant reports directly to the Title I Lead Teacher, building administrator or their designee.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 48 hours of earned credit or
  • Passed the ParaPro assessment (may start without the ParaPro certification at a lower pay rate until the certification has been earned)

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Additional specific duties and responsibilities vary from setting to setting. Typical duties assigned to Intervention Assistants may include, but are not limited to the following:
  1. Implement instruction for Title 1 students in reading and/or math in grades K-4
  2. Engage in regular collaboration with the Title I Lead Teacher and with classroom teachers
  3. Assist teachers with assessment activities to gather information about students' current levels of performance, both strengths and weaknesses
  4. Work with individual and small groups of students using age and developmentally appropriate curriculum activities
  5. Assist with supplementary work for students and supervise independent study
  6. Assist with preparing individualized instructional materials
  7. Observe and record information about students' performance
  8. Attend staff or IEP meetings at the request of the classroom teacher, Title I Lead Teacher or building administrator
