Job description

The Master Scheduler will establish and monitor the production schedules for the facility to achieve customer requirements. In this role, you will also manage the scheduling department functions and staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Acts as primary contact with sales, manufacturing, and logistics, determining resource constraints, and developing plans to achieve customers' needs.
  • Enters specific sales orders into the master schedule based on requested customer delivery dates, availability of raw materials, and equipment.
  • Maintains the master production schedule for the facility, reviewing daily to adjust for changes in customer requirements, delay in receiving raw materials, availability of production changes in customer requirements, delay in receiving raw materials, availability of production equipment, etc. Advises appropriate personnel of changes in the schedule.
  • Leads weekly production planning meeting that includes representatives from production, shipping, customer service, and purchasing departments.
  • Reviews monthly marketing forecasts and adjusts master schedules accordingly.
  • Manages scheduling department staff. Responsible for Performance Management, including selection, training, employee development, performance reviews, cross training, and disciplinary action.
  • Maintains department metrics related to departmental performance.
  • Once employee demonstrates competency in position, he/she may be required to train others in similar roles.

Skills:

  • Extensive hands-on experience with a computerized production planning system (MRP system).
  • Ability to analyze situations and react in a timely manner necessary. Strong project management skills required.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail required. Excellent follow-up skills required.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks with minimal supervision and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to independently solve problems and make recommendations.
  • Above average communication skills required.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in written format.

Experience/Education:

  • 4 year / Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • Professional certification by the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) preferred.
  • 5-10 years of production planning/materials control in a manufacturing environment is required.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required throughout the workday to sit. Employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hand/fingers to grasp/pinch/grip; climbing (stairs); stoop/knee/crouch/crawl. Must regularly be able to pull, push, lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
  • Work environment: Work performed in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually low.
