Job description

Business Development Executive – Industrial AutomationCreate Opportunities. Build Relationships. Drive Growth.

Some people wait for opportunities. Others create them. If you're energized by opening doors, building relationships, and creating new opportunities, we'd like to meet you.

At ArtiFlex's automation group, AutoMatrix, we help manufacturers solve complex production challenges through innovative automation solutions. As our next Business Development Executive, you'll introduce those solutions to new customers, build lasting partnerships, and help drive the next phase of our growth across a variety of manufacturing industries.

This is a high-impact business development role for someone who enjoys being in the market, building connections, understanding customer challenges, and collaborating with technical experts to develop solutions that create real value.

What You'll Do
  • Develop and execute strategies to identify and secure new business opportunities across manufacturing industries.

  • Build trusted relationships with prospective customers, including engineering teams, manufacturing leaders, and executive decision-makers.

  • Proactively identify new markets, customers, and opportunities where AutoMatrix solutions can provide value.

  • Engage with customers to understand manufacturing challenges, technical requirements, and business objectives while developing automation solutions that improve productivity, quality, safety, and operational performance.

  • Partner with Engineering, Estimating, Program Management, and Operations to develop customized solutions and proposals.

  • Manage opportunities throughout the sales cycle—from initial outreach through proposal, negotiation, and project award.

  • Represent AutoMatrix through customer visits, industry networking, and market development activities.

What Makes You Successful

You're likely to thrive in this role if you:

  • Create opportunities rather than wait for them and enjoy opening new doors.

  • Build trusted relationships by understanding customer needs and delivering meaningful solutions.

  • Communicate confidently with technical teams, manufacturing leaders, and executive decision-makers.

  • Are curious about manufacturing technology and how automation can solve real-world challenges.

  • Are a self-starter who thinks creatively, works independently, and collaborates effectively with a technical team.

What You'll Bring
  • Proven success in business development, technical sales, strategic account development, or a related customer-facing role.

  • Experience selling complex solutions within manufacturing, industrial technology, automation, engineering services, capital equipment, or similar technical industries.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities, develop relationships, and secure new business.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to understand and communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to understand customer goals and connect them with effective solutions.

  • A self-driven mindset with the initiative and creativity to pursue new opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with industrial automation, robotics, systems integration, manufacturing technology, or related solutions.

  • Experience supporting automotive or other advanced manufacturing organizations.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.

  • Established relationships within manufacturing markets, particularly in Southeast Michigan.

Location amp; Travel

This role is based in the Detroit metropolitan area and requires regular travel throughout Southeast Michigan to meet with customers and develop new business opportunities. Approximately 20% travel throughout North America is expected to support customer relationships and business growth.

Why AutoMatrix?

At AutoMatrix, you'll have the opportunity to make a direct impact on our continued growth while working alongside experienced engineers, project managers, and manufacturing professionals who are passionate about solving complex production challenges through innovative automation solutions.

We believe the strongest business relationships are built through understanding customer needs, creating innovative solutions, and delivering results. If you're motivated by building something meaningful, developing new opportunities, and helping manufacturers improve the way they operate, we'd like to talk with you.

Benefits amp; Employee Ownership
