Who we are looking for: 

VML Health is seeking a Senior Editor (SE) who will be heavily involved in the day-to-day movement of projects, with involvement from manuscript to final release. An SE will work on assigned accounts without need for daily supervision; demonstrate leadership qualities; be detail-oriented, with a thorough knowledge of assigned account; apply client style, FDA regulations, and AMA requirements to each piece to help ensure the accuracy and integrity of all jobs that move through the agency; mentor junior staff; and act as a training resource for editors.

What you'll do:

  • The Senior Editor contributes to the evolution of a project, with input from manuscript to final release, and helps ensure adherence to departmental processes
  • Works on assigned accounts without need for daily supervision, demonstrates leadership qualities, mentors junior staff, and acts as a training resource
  • Creates and oversees implementation of editorial style specific to each account
  • Demonstrates familiarity with FDA regulations and expertise in AMA style, grammar, spelling, clarity, usage, punctuation, and individual client style to help ensure the accuracy and integrity of all jobs that move through the agency
  • Copyedits and fact-checks
  • Collaborates with all members of account team, including account executives, copywriters, and art directors, to help ensure adherence to departmental processes, and editorial and client guidelines
  • Acts as a training resource for junior editors
  • Maintains comprehensive style manuals

What you'll need:

  • 3+ years of experience in medical/pharmaceutical copyediting in an advertising agency or pharmaceutical company.
  • Detail-oriented, with superior organizational skills and good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent command of language, with strong client/product knowledge and familiarity with FDA regulations regarding Rx drug advertising. 
  • Well-organized and able to work calmly and efficiently under pressure
  • Flexibility to work late/weekends when required
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Expertise in Ziflow
  • Comfortable with learning new technologies
