Job description

Manufacturing Solutions Technician

Trinity Industries is seeking a Manufacturing Solutions Technician based at our plant location in Ferris, TX. This innovative team member will join our technical center, where we develop advanced manufacturing solutions for rail car production and repair. This role is ideal for someone passionate about hands-on work, eager to contribute innovation and automation solutions for welding, assembly, and painting process. The ideal candidate will be able and ready to help identify and launch new technologies on the shop floor.

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to design, build, and implement manufacturing solutions that enhance welding, assembly, and painting operations.
  • Utilize internal capabilities—including welding, fabrication, plasma cutting, bending, and testing—to develop and refine manufacturing processes.
  • Work directly with the latest welding equipment and welding cobots to optimize production efficiency and product quality.
  • Support the launch of innovative automation and tooling projects, ensuring solutions are practical and effective for factory use.
  • Troubleshoot and improve existing manufacturing processes, focusing on safety, reliability, and cost reduction.
  • Participate in hands-on fabrication, welding, and machining tasks as needed to prototype and validate new solutions.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of demonstrated experience in welding, fabrication, or machining—preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Proficiency with welding equipment and automation tools.
  • Ability to perform design activities using CAD systems such as AutoCad Inventor.
  • Experience with robots or cobots is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Willingness to work hands-on in a shop environment and "get your hands dirty."
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach to project work.
  • No college degree required; technical certifications or relevant training are valued.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations for welded, assembled, or painted products.
  • Familiarity with process improvement, automation, or tooling development.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methods.
