Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

Guide and instruct manufacturing engineers involved in designing, establishing, analyzing, and improving manufacturing processes and production systems.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans, organizes, and schedules area activities and assignments
  • Coordinates area activities with other organizations/departments
  • Oversee assignments involving facilities planning, equipment, tooling, engineering support, capital planning, manufacturing planning and flow analysis, product quality, reducing cost and improving methods
  • Assists in manufacturing planning efforts involving major aircraft components and highly complex systems and as difficult problems are encountered. Ensures timely and effective liaison activity with assembly, fabrication, and aircraft completions to develop and improve manufacturing techniques, processes, and procedures
  • Improves the effectiveness of the area by instructing, developing, and creating the required environment for motivation, innovation, and job development of employees, assess individual employee results in relation to job assignments and takes or recommends appropriate actions
  • Prepares planning forecasts and tooling estimates and approves master and control tool work orders
  • Performs necessary research to maintain and exercise a working knowledge of new manufacturing processes and techniques
  • Prepares periodic activity and status reports and performs special assignments as required
  • Will be responsible for PMP's, PeopleSoft approval, overtime assignment, vacation approval and disciplinary action, with assistance from the Manager

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum 5 years of relative experience required
  • Leadership experience is preferred


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience in Manufacturing Engineering role or function preferred
  • Experience in manufacturing disciplines and standard shop processes is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office products
  • Action oriented
  • Managerial courage
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective teams
