Job description

Manufacturing Site Controller

Compensation: $110,000โ€“$125,000 base, depending on experience

Role Overview

Master Machine is hiring a Site Controller to own the accounting and finance function at one of our Chattanooga-area manufacturing operations. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to be the finance leader at a smaller manufacturing site, not one of many in a corporate structure.

You won't have a team underneath you. You will close the books, build the forecast, sit on the shop floor solving a cost variance with the plant manager, and present results to corporate leadership โ€” sometimes all in the same week. We're looking for an emerging finance leader with 3โ€“5 years of experience who's ready to run the function and grow with the business.

What You'll Own

  • The full accounting cycle for the site โ€” close, reconciliations, journal entries, AP/AR oversight, and reporting
  • Monthly financial results, forecasts, and variance commentary for site and corporate leadership
  • Cost accounting fundamentals: standard costs, material/labor/overhead variances, inventory valuation, and margin analysis
  • Operational KPIs โ€” labor productivity, throughput, scrap, utilization โ€” translated into financial impact
  • Site-level budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and working capital management
  • Internal controls and process improvement โ€” building the structure as the business grows
  • Direct finance partnership with the General Manager on pricing, capex, and day-to-day operating decisions
  • Coordination with corporate finance on consolidated reporting, audit support, and strategic initiatives

Who We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3โ€“5 years of accounting or finance experience
  • Exposure to manufacturing, cost accounting, or operational finance
  • Comfortable being the "only finance person in the room" โ€” willing to roll up your sleeves on transactional work and zoom out for the executive conversation
  • Advanced Excel; can build a model from a blank sheet without needing a template
  • ERP experience (any system โ€” we care about the mindset, not the brand)
  • Direct, low-ego communication style; equally comfortable with machinists and the CFO
  • Self-starter who would rather build the playbook than wait for one

Bonus Points

  • Cost accounting experience in a discrete or job-shop manufacturing environment
  • CPA or candidate
  • Background in a small-to-mid-size or PE-backed business
  • Prior exposure to nuclear, aerospace, defense, or other regulated/quality-driven industries

About Fusion Enterprises

Master Machine is the largest nuclear focused fabrication business in Chattanooga and continues to grow rapidly with the reemerging industry.

This isn't a seat in a finance hierarchy. It's the chance to run the finance function at a focused, growing manufacturing business, with real ownership and real visibility to leadership.
