Emiliano’s brings the tastes of Italy to Riverdale. We are a growing Italian Specialty Eatery and Food Market. We recently expanded our store to include a gelateria.

We are seeking a passionate and talented Chef/ Kitchen Manager specializing in Italian cuisine to join our kitchen team. In this role, you will craft authentic Italian dishes that delight our guests, oversee kitchen operations, and lead the kitchen team. Your expertise will ensure the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and safety are maintained while creating memorable dining experiences. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated culinary leader eager to showcase their skills, lead the kitchen, expand the menu and focus on expanding the catering side of the business.

The kitchen prepares breakfast, lunch and dinners. In addition, the kitchen team preps food for the deli sandwiches and catering orders.

Job Description – Chef (Italian cuisine)

The Chef will assist the owners as they manage the inventory of food and beverages, equipment, and supplies. Responsible for following food preparation, portion sizes, and the overall presentation of food. Ensure compliance with health and fire regulations regarding food preparation and kitchen maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook authentic Italian dishes with precision, creativity, and consistency, ensuring each plate meets our high standards for flavor and presentation
  • Lead and supervise kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes teamwork, efficiency, and continuous improvement
  • Manage food production processes, including menu planning, ingredient sourcing, and inventory control to minimize waste and optimize resources
  • Oversee food safety protocols and ensure compliance with all health and fire regulations to maintain a safe kitchen environment
  • Monitor shift operations, manage kitchen schedules, and ensure timely food service during peak hours
  • Maintain accurate records of food handling, inventory levels, and kitchen procedures to support smooth daily operations
  • Maintain cleanliness and appearance of workspace to be in compliance with all sanitation and department of health standards.
  • Other duties as assigned by owner

Requirements:

Proven experience in Italian cuisine with a strong background in fine dining settings or upscale restaurants

Demonstrated supervisory skills with experience managing kitchen teams in fast-paced environments

Extensive knowledge of food preparation techniques, menu planning, and culinary best practices within the food industry

Strong understanding of food safety standards, inventory management, and kitchen management tools

Excellent leadership abilities coupled with effective communication skills to motivate team members

Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils

Experience with banquet service, catering events, and large-scale food production is highly desirable

Background in hospitality or restaurant management preferred; culinary certification or degree is a plus
