DESCRIPTION
Carease Health is a nationwide preventative healthcare company focused on reducing hospitalizations and improving outcomes for high-risk patients. We are dedicated to improving the lives of nursing home residents through remote patient monitoring, chronic care management, and psychiatric collaborative care services. Our mission is to keep patients healthier, safer, and supported outside of the hospital setting by leveraging technology, clinical expertise, and proactive care coordination. At Carease Health, we believe in teamwork, compassion, and supporting one another so every employee feels valued and empowered to make a real difference in patient care.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Systems Architect to own and scale the company's entire operational technology backbone. We have an operational portal already in production, multiple clinical and billing platforms, a growing remote development team, and a company growing extremely fast. This person takes full ownership of making every system in the company work together — the portal, the integrations, the data flows, the dashboards, and the development team that builds it all. You are the single point of accountability for operational technology.
This is a hands-on ownership role. You will not only design how systems connect but also ensure they are built, deployed, and running reliably in production every day.
What You Will Do
Take full ownership of our operational portal — architecture, development roadmap, quality, and growth
Directly manage our remote development team — standups, code review, priorities, and output quality
Architect scalable workflow automation across clinical, billing, recruiting, onboarding, and field operations — replacing manual handoffs with system-enforced processes that move forward only when prerequisites are met
Build and maintain integrations across EMR, billing, CRM, and internal operational systems — including Google Workspace SSO/SAML, scheduling, communication tools, and reporting platforms
Develop executive dashboards giving leadership real-time visibility into operations, billing, clinical performance, and facility metrics
Define and enforce data quality standards across all platforms — clean flows, no duplicates, single source of truth
Evaluate new software tools for technical fit within the existing architecture and integrate them when adopted
Work closely with leadership to identify opportunities to apply technology and AI-driven automation to real operational problems
Coordinate with IT security to ensure reliability, security, and compliance of all systems in a healthcare environment
What We Are Looking For
Strong hands-on experience in software engineering, preferably backend (Node.js, Python, or similar) with the ability to write and review code, set standards, and direct a development team
Proven experience connecting multiple business systems via APIs in a production environment — you can name the systems you've integrated
Experience managing remote developers across time zones and getting quality output consistently
Deep familiarity with APIs, system integrations, and data pipeline architecture
Integrator mindset — your first instinct is "what existing tool solves this?" before "let me write custom code"
Practical understanding of data quality — normalization, deduplication, and building clean data flows across multiple source systems
Ability to work under operational leadership, take direction, and translate business needs into technical execution quickly
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work across complex, interconnected systems
AI fluency — you don't build AI models, but you understand what AI needs to consume and you build data infrastructure with that future in mind
Nice to Have
SNF/LTPAC experience — EMR data, clinical workflows, and healthcare billing cycles will accelerate your ramp significantly
Experience working with or deploying LLM-based tools for operational productivity
Background in workflow automation or enterprise system integration
Experience building executive dashboards from live operational data
Experience with data pipelines, orchestration frameworks, or event-driven systems
Familiarity with compliance-sensitive environments (HIPAA or similar)
Why Join Carease Health
High-impact work directly improving patient outcomes
Full ownership of the company's operational technology — not a cog in a machine
Opportunity to shape the technology architecture of a growing healthcare organization
Direct collaboration with leadership and decision-makers every day
Fast-moving environment with high ownership and autonomy where you see results immediately
Meaningful mission focused on reducing hospitalizations and improving quality of care
Opportunity to build the data foundation that powers a clinical AI platform
Must live in the tri-state area. This is a hybrid and an in-office role in Lakewood, NJ.
If you are excited about owning the technology backbone of a growing healthcare company and making systems work the way they should, we encourage you to apply.
