Job description

Application System Architect (Epic)

Work location: Arlington Corporate Office. This position is primarily remote, with occasional travel to THR facilities as needed for project work, support activities, and stakeholder engagement
Work hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Primary work hours are during the day shift; however, flexibility is required to support special projects, system upgrades, go-lives, maintenance activities, and other after-hours or weekend initiatives as needed.

• Supports a broad portfolio of Epic clinical applications that enable patient care and clinical operations across Texas Health Resources.
• Provides expertise in clinical documentation, provider workflows, patient movement, emergency services, and other enterprise clinical technologies.
• Partners with operational, clinical, and physician leaders to design, implement, and optimize technology solutions that support high-quality patient care and efficient clinical operations.
• Collaborates across application, technical, and support teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions that support strategic initiatives and enhance the experience of patients, providers, and staff.
Here's What You Need
  • Bachelor's degree computer science, information technology, business or related field required or 4 years relevant experience in lieu of a degree required
  • 7 years relevant work experience designing, developing or supporting relevant applications required Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with working knowledge of SharePoint and the ability to utilize Copilot AI tools.
  • Epic certification or proficiency - any module(s) upon hire required
  • Epic certification or proficiency - specific module(s) based on area(s) supported within 6 months of hire required
  • Current Epic certifications in relevant modules including Clinical and/or Business operations - multiple certifications is strongly preferred

What You Will Do
The Application Architect/EHR is responsible for end to end systems application design and development to best support the strategic needs of the organization and ensure elegant integration with existing and future applications. This role serves as a leader and mentor to other team ASAs on projects, initiatives and diagnosis of failure when needed.
• Develops design solutions that cleanly integrate with existing products and provide an easy path for future enhancements.
• Communicates with customer, project team, and vendors in in the analysis and design of business and requirements for new and optimized application and system workflows, as well as ensuring secure and stable architectures are in place.
• Consultant/SME in diagnosis, resolution, and communication of failures encountered in application software and related technologies.
• Respond to customer issues in a timely manner.
• Communicates with customer, project team and vendors in a timely manner and escalates issues & risks appropriately.
• Consultant in the development of department strategies and tactics, planning, reviewing and monitoring activities that provide value to key customers.
• Develop and implement installation plans.
• Develop/update appropriate Service Desk documentation for each change.
• Maintains an awareness of vendor and industry developments/plans in area(s) of responsibility, communication, and documentation of all relevant items and activities. Performs other duties as assigned.
