Job description

Job Summary:
Michigan Medicine is seeking a System Architect Intermediate to join their Health Information Technology & Services Department. The role involves managing system administration tasks for the Epic electronic health record system, supporting installations, configurations, and troubleshooting efforts, while also providing production support to ensure a reliable and secure system.
Responsibilities:
• Manage install/renewal of TLS certificates.
• Troubleshoot and support MiChart printing.
• Troubleshoot and support 3rd party integrations.
• Troubleshoot and support device integration with MiChart for various end user devices, including paper scanners, barcode scanners, eSignature pads and related drivers, scan formats,etc.
• Perform EHR setup and support of printers, workstations, paper scanners, bar code scanners and other peripherals.
• Coordinate packaging requests with broader operational and project initiatives.
• Support end point installs for the EHR client applications.
• Support of MiChart application with the Michigan Medicine's customized MS Windows CoreImage on desktops, laptops and other form factors.
• Work with the Application Coordinators, technical teams, and Epic vendor to troubleshoot user issues with Epic applications to resolve problems.
• Installing and configuring Epic applications on client systems.
• Performing basic system maintenance, including patching and updates.
• Data entry and validation within the Epic system.
• Review procedure workflows and processes and identify potential issues and recommend corrective action.
• Support and troubleshoot Windows Server OS and interactions with application system support.
• Support/manage NTFS file/share permissions.
• Participate in the Oncall rotation
• Performs other related duties as required.
• Work with Senior staff members to learn more about the Epic system, tools and troubleshooting methods in support of the EHR.
• Review and diagnosis error logs associated with High Availability, Load Balancing, and Epic services.
• Advanced application-to-service troubleshooting and support.
• Understanding technical underpinnings provided by the department to deliver our services, including Window proxy services, Authentication & access, network load balancers, firewall rules, etc.
• Understanding and support of departmental and team strategies, processes, and procedures, including Change Control, Continuity & Resiliency, Cybersecurity, Cloud technologies, etc.
• Write up internal support documents as well as knowledge base articles for other support staff and/or end users.
• Perform any other work tasks as assigned by manager.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• 5+ years demonstrated progressive technical experience supporting infrastructure and/or IT services in an enterprise setting.
• Ability to gain Epic Client Systems Administrator Certifications within 12-18 months and maintain required certifications.
Preferred:
• Familiarity/experience with Epic EHR or other enterprise level health care application.
• Experience utilizing and/or supporting the following: Windows PowerShell, Python, or other scripting languages; IIS, HTML, ASP, JavaScript, XML and CSS; Windows 10 & 11, Windows Servers, Windows Registry; Knowledge of cloud and virtualization technologies and concepts; Installation of external vendor application packages; An understanding of workstation management tools, software distribution, and networking concepts.
• 3-5+ years experience with Windows or Linux Administration.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication, organizational and customer-service skills with the ability to interact effectively with employees at multiple levels within the organization.
• Basic understanding of network infrastructure and system administration principles.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to learn new software quickly.
• Experience and/or willingness to learn cloud technologies like Azure.
