Position Purpose
The Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for general maintenance and repair of facilities, building mechanical systems, machinery and equipment.
Position Responsibilities
  • Assists in performing scheduled and "as needed" inspection and preventive maintenance on tools and equipment to maintain operability of the tools and equipment.
  • Perform routine building/facility maintenance duties, including painting, snow removal and minor repairs (ex. switching lightbulbs and unclogging toilets).
  • Execute office furniture moves, including installation/removal of cabinets.
  • Maintain interior of the building, as well as machinery and equipment, and exterior of the building (as needed).
  • Operate a shop sweeper and forklift.
  • Complete administrative duties, such as filling out forms and reporting maintenance statuses to supervisor.
  • Keep inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, and report needs to supervisor.
  • Ability to communicate orally with team members, co-workers, employees, contractors and vendors to obtain and provide useful information.
  • Work in various adverse conditions such as tight or enclosed spaces, heights, and temperature extremes, indoors or outdoors to complete work assignments.
  • Respond to emergency calls for maintenance and repairs.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot small electrical or plumbing repairs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Summary of Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of experience.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems (including relevant equipment and tools) is a plus.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time; ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and lift or move heavy equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other manuals and documents.
  • Ability to work in a team and follow instructions from supervisors.
  • May be required to work outside of normal work hours.
