Job description

Ahlstrom is seeking an entry-level Maintenance Mechanic at our Nicolet Mill in De Pere, Wisconsin. Are you a hands-on individual just starting your mechanical maintenance career? Are you interested in starting or continuing a Maintenance Apprenticeship program? Are you interested in using your mechanical skills in a paper manufacturing environment? Have you recently graduated from high school and want to enter the maintenance field? If you answered yes to any of these questions, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities
Perform routine tasks such as:
  • Lubrication of machinery and oil filtration
  • Bearings, pumps, gearboxes and seal replacements
  • Roll changes
  • Parts cleaning during overhauls and preventative maintenance routes
  • Installing, maintaining, upgrading, and fabricating machinery and equipment
  • Operating lift trucks, aerial work platforms and other moving equipment
  • Rigging to lift, move, and position equipment and materials
  • Precision maintenance activities

Requirements:
  • Qualified candidates will have one or more of the following:
    • Associate Degree in a related mechanical maintenance field
    • Mechanical maintenance experience
    • Maintenance apprentice currently enrolled in a mechanical program
    • Interest in enrolling in a mechanical maintenance apprentice program
  • Ability to successfully pass a post-offer drug screen and background check
  • Ability to work 6:00am - 2:00pm, Monday - Friday
  • Ability to provide vacation coverage on varying shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays once required training and certification is complete.
  • Possibility of working extended hours for shut downs and outages
  • Must be able to work safely - following rules, procedures and wearing required PPE
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Basic computer skills
  • Experience using lathes, milling machines, and other miscellaneous shop equipment is a plus
  • Ability to work well with a team
  • Able to use hand and power tools, ladders, cranes, hoists, and material handling equipment; read and comprehend technical manuals and work orders; demonstrate manual dexterity, mental acuity, ability to lift up to 65 lbs unassisted and perform physical work within a manufacturing environment.
