Job description

The Mail Runner (Package Handler) is responsible for receiving and sorting the incoming freight, facilitates the efficient delivery  and pickup of mail/freight throughout the Hotel/Casino and Conference/Meeting Center, and completes all other task deemed necessary by Manager/Supervisor and/or Working Foreman to facilitate department operations.

  • Warehouse environment that ranges in temperature, as well as, travel outside of building to deliver to other property locations as needed. 

  • Multiple hours of standing, walking (8-10+ miles per shift), reaching, stooping and/or

  • crouching motions repeatedly, lifting of small to heavy packages (70-100 lbs.+), push/pull 300-400 lbs.+ on wheels and team lift whenever appropriate to complete job tasks. 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  

  • The employee frequently is required to stand.  

  • The employee is required to walk; sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  

  • Specific visual abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Additional Requirements:

  • Certified and/or certifiable in use of Electric Carts (3 and 4 wheel flatbed), Electric Rider Pallet Jack Certified. Forklift Certification is not a requirement but may be executed when the need is determined.

Education and/or Experience:  

Minimum High School Diploma. Must have basic reading, writing and math skills. Effective communication skills. Shipping &Receiving in a warehouse, hospitality industry, convention tradeshow venue is a plus. Basic computer skills, include the use of Microsoft Word and Outlook Email. Any experience shipping via UPS World Ship and/or FedEx.com or FedEx Ship Manager is advantageous. Certified in use of Electric Carts (3 and 4 wheel flatbed), Electric Rider Pallet Jack Certified, Forklift Certified is a bonus but may not be required.

  • Position requires ability to speak clear English; Spanish and other languages are a plus. 

  • Job duties require receiving and sorting of inbound freight and small package deliveries, facilitates the efficient delivery and pickup of freight and small packages throughout the hotel/casino/conference and convention spaces as directed. 

  • Assist Working Foreman, Parcel Center Supervisor and Package Operations Manager in maintaining organization and inventory of Parcel (Package) Center. 

  • Must have basic reading, writing, math skills, basic to intermediate computer skills, strong Customer Service Communication skills via telephone, email and direct guest interaction will be considered. 

  • Multiple hours of standing, walking (8-10+ miles per shift), reaching, stooping and/or crouching motions repeatedly, lifting of small to heavy packages (70-100 lbs.+), push/pull 300-400 lbs.+ on wheels, certified to use of electric rider/manual pallet jacks, electric carts, hand-trucks will be used by individual for daily package handling duties and all other duties as deemed necessary by management.

Additional Accountabilities for Single Market Position:

  •     Put away supplies and complete light clean up of department (including individual workstations, department storage areas, lockers and dock area used by Parcel Center).

  •     Assist in preparation of outbound freight as needed or as time allows.

  •     Answer department phones, retrieval of voice messages, responding to messages or directing calls as needed.

  •     Closing Shift personnel is to make sure that all batteries are charged on equipment and if charging is needed, makes sure that equipment is plugged in before leaving his/her shift.

  •     Additional related duties as requested by Foreman, Parcel Center Supervisor and Package Operations Manager.
