Job description

Supervises and trains Shop Hands to assist the Machining dept. and Machinists in all capacities, including but not limited to, the upkeep of machines and maintenance, loading and moving materials, gathering tools needed for jobs, housekeeping as needed, keep supplies stocked and readily available, moving and positioning of equipment and work areas and any other misc. duties as needed in order to keep a safe and hazard free work space.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Trains and Supervises Shop Hands in daily work functions
  • Conducts forklift training for Shop Hands
  • Work safely with high voltages, chemicals, mechanical assemblies
  • Think and act with security in mind
  • Minor housekeeping and production tasks
  • Grounds keeping of all kinds, year round
  • Minor electrical and mechanical repairs
  • Preventive maintenance on all production machinery and facility
  • Continuous improvement of skills and methods of preforming job functions
  • Miscellaneous tasks as assigned

EXPERIENCE:

  • 6 months to 1 year experience in maintenance capacity
  • Leadership experience preferred
  • Electrical, HVAC, Mechanical and Manufacturing experience helpful

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to gain cooperation from other employees and lead them in work functions
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Familiar with safety standards and PPE utilized in a manufacturing setting
  • Ability to operator powered trucks, such as forklift and pallet jack
  • Knowledge of basic hand tools
  • Basic math skills
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to read and write English
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to stay on task with minimal supervision
  • Be able to prioritize and take direction without hesitation
  • Strong communication skills and good attention to detail
  • Excellent attendance with the requirement for overtime work as needed
  • High level of dedication and motivation
  • Positive attitude and willingness to train in other areas
