The Machine Shop Manager will have the opportunity to utilize their expertise to develop and execute objectives and effect short term and long term business goals, in a state of the art production facility. In addition to the technical ability, we are looking for someone who can demonstrate judgment and decision-making coupled with the ability to think "big picture" in relation to overall machining processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems.
  • Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Responsible for production reporting review before posting
  • Responsible for meeting the manufacturing deadlines as well as communicating business goals, processes, and procedures for the entire shop floor.
  • Conduct yearly employee performance/attendance reviews to evaluate potential for annual raises/bonuses.
  • Ensure products are run efficiently
    • Eliminate production bottlenecks
    • Streamline product flow
    • Review machinist efficiency
  • Responsible for keeping the work area, machines, and tooling inventory clean & organized
  • Manage both preventive maintenance and 3rd-party repairs of all equipment.
  • Manage/Order shop tooling and manufacturing specific consumables to ensure continued production
  • Maintain accurate production scheduling initiatives in regards to machines, tooling, fixtures, and personnel.
  • Interpret all drawing & blueprint specifications, dimensions, and tolerances to determine the most cost-effective/efficient sequence of manufacturing operations and set up requirements.
  • Communicate daily with production team, quality department, and management on top priorities/concerns and resolve all machining quality issues in a timely manner.
  • Supervisory responsibilities which include interviewing, hiring, training, monitoring work, performance reviews, career development, discipline, and resolving issues in accordance with applicable laws and/or company policy.
  • Oversee and monitor all safety initiatives in the machining area.
  • Work as a team with all levels and functional areas of the organization

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ machining experience and people skills to provide hands-on supervision
  • Strong computer skills and experience with Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) system
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
  • Excellent organization and analytical skills along with demonstrating a strong work ethic and superior technical abilities.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, manufacturing, or related field
  • 7+ years solid Production Supervisory experience in a manufacturing facility
