The Operations Supervisor will provide support to the Operations Manager in scheduling and logistics; team member development; customer engagement; safety program implementation and adherence; and process and procedure execution at Savage's Detroit Handling operation. This operation-embedded within the Marathon Refinery in Detroit, Michigan-serves our customer by providing highly skilled expertise in Petroleum Coke cutting, Coke handling, tractor-trailer loadout, and specialized equipment maintenance. You will partner with the Operations Manager and our customer in solving their most difficult challenges by creating innovative solutions that improve reliability and efficiency.

Here is what you will be doing
  • Demonstrate the highest commitment to "zero occurrences" by effectively leading the safety, health, and environmental (SH&E) efforts at the operation
  • Assist in the development and execution of an operational business plan, including budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and variance reviews
  • Ensure logistics and inventory data is collected, analyzed, verified, and distributed to key customer contacts and Savage stakeholders in a timely and efficient manner
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the customer through daily interactions and scheduled, recurring meetings that highlight Key Performance Indicators and other metrics
  • Assist in the leadership and support of a high-functioning team across multiple proficiencies: Coke Cutters, Overhead Crane Operators, Loadout Operators, Mechanic, Electrician, and Utility Operators
  • Manage utilization of equipment and people to best meet both customer service expectations and proper financial stewardship
  • Supervise daily inventory levels and provide alerts to leadership if impending issues may occur
  • Support the Savage S7 Delivery System
  • Aid the Operations Manager in hiring, training, leadership, and team building
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays (operation runs 7 days per week, 24 hours per day)
  • Responsibilities are not all-inclusive and may change based on the needs of the company

Requirements for a Successful Operations Supervisor
  • 2 years' supervisory experience in an industrial setting preferred
  • General understanding of contracts and MSAs
  • Knowledge of Petroleum Coke cutting, overhead cranes, conveyor belts, and loadout systems
  • Must qualify for and possess a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC card)
  • Typically work Monday through Friday (~45 hours/week)
  • Current/valid driver's license
  • Occasional travel may be required
