Logistics Insight Corporation (LINC), a subsidiary of Universal Logistics Holdings, Inc., is a leading third party logistics provider (3PL) that offers a broad scope of services throughout the entire supply chain. LINC's experienced management team, with its state-of-the-art technology, provides customized logistics solutions to its customers resulting in proven efficiencies and savings.
Position Overview
The Operations Manager is responsible for leading day-to-day execution across multiple functional departments within Universal Logistics' on-site operation supporting GM Lake Orion Assembly. This role ensures consistent performance in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee engagement while supporting the Facility Manager in driving continuous improvement across a large, high-volume, multi-shift operation. The Operations Manager provides direct leadership to supervisors and frontline teams to ensure reliable, accurate, and service-focused material flow to GM.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operational performance across small lot, bulk storage, sequencing, container management, and kitting departments.
  • Lead and support supervisors and frontline teams to meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity targets.
  • Maintain strong operational alignment with GM, ensuring timely communication, issue resolution, and support for production requirements.
  • Execute labor planning, staffing, and shift coordination to support consistent material flow and service-level performance.
  • Monitor KPIs-including throughput, accuracy, downtime, and delivery performance-and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Support and enforce all OSHA, GM, and Universal Logistics safety standards and assist in driving a safety-first culture.
  • Lead daily Gemba walks, shift-start meetings, and operational reviews to maintain visibility and alignment across all functions.
  • Identify and execute process improvements using LEAN tools, standardization, and continuous improvement methodology.
  • Ensure accurate WMS/ERP transactions, inventory integrity, and adherence to JIT/JIS delivery requirements.
  • Maintain oversight of MHE and automation workflows to ensure equipment reliability and operational readiness.
  • Serve as acting site leader when the Facility Manager is unavailable.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in warehousing, logistics, automotive, or manufacturing operations.
  • Prior experience leading multi-shift or high-volume operations; automotive or Tier-1 experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of sequencing, kitting, material flow, JIT/JIS delivery, and inventory control best practices.
  • Demonstrated success developing supervisors and frontline teams through coaching, accountability, and structured leadership routines.
  • Proficient with WMS/ERP systems, RF technology, Excel, and KPI dashboards.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making capability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and maintain a consistent presence on the production floor.
