Job Summary

Are you a problem solver with a passion for tackling the complex issues that the transportation andย logisticsย sector often brings? Join our Managed Logistics Team and find purpose in the day-to-day practices of getting our customer's freight from point A to B.ย 

Logistics Operations Plannersย are responsible forย the daily support of contractualย clients to drive customer satisfaction and retention by way of freight operations load planning, account management, customer relationship building, and transportation strategy.ย this role,ย you'llย execute on the frontline service that BlueGrace provides, therefore getting finished goods to store shelves, raw materials to manufacturers, medical equipment to hospitals, and more!ย The LOP must work proactively with the Operations Manager to reduce or prevent reoccurring delays or service failures.ย The typical freight services includeย high level, complex and escalated shipment creation, quoting, shipment project management, cross training, identification of opportunities.

Please note this position is located on-site at our office in Troy, MI.ย ย 

What does a typical day look like?ย ย 

  • Answering inquiries from carriers, clients, and/or customersย 
  • Mode Optimizationย 
  • Investigation and resolution of issuesย submittedย by customers,ย carriersย and/or suppliersย 
  • Acting as a liaison between operations, carriers, and customersย 
  • Daily interaction with internal staff, carriers, and customer personnel isย requiredย 
  • Prioritize workload based on collaboration with Operations Manager andย Logistics Performance Directorย 
  • Savings identificationย 
  • Documentation of issues (carrier, supplier, customer)ย 
  • Relationship building with customer contacts,ย carriersย and suppliersย 
  • Creation of standard work instructions (SWI) and process improvement identificationย 
  • Practice continuous business improvements by reviewing procedures and work habits; Implement steps to lower cost while increasing performanceย 

What are weย seeking?ย ย 

  • Degree in Logistics or related field and/orย 1+ย years' experience inย logistics,ย transportationย or related fieldย 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suiteย 
  • Experience working with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) is preferredย 
  • Effectively express ideas orally or in writing asย requiredย to perform the job and ability to proactively communicate with individuals at all levelsย 
  • Work collaboratively with members of his/her team andย establish/maintain effective working relationships when dealing with managers, supervisors, or co-workersย
