Position Description
Construction Planner / Scheduler
CORE is seeking a construction scheduling expert to provide planning and scheduling direction to our commercial construction projects throughout the states of Arizona. The scheduler's primary responsibility will be to utilize a variety of scheduling techniques and software to help our preconstruction teams and our project teams accurately plan and manage construction activities on complex projects. Some of those scheduling techniques include P6 software, Microsoft Project software, Last Planner System, Touchplan software and SmartPM software.
Overall we are seeking an experienced construction scheduler, preferably with construction field experience. This individual will collaborate with everyone at CORE involved in the Preconstruction and Operations teams to create, develop and maintain comprehensive and detailed schedules from preconstruction and procurement through the end of construction.
Primary Planner/Scheduler Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate and work closely with preconstruction, operations, trade partners and all stakeholders to define tasks and accurate durations.
  • Break large projects down into phases of development.
  • Support preconstruction and operations by leading the development and then maintenance and updates, of a detailed baseline schedule.
  • Work with preconstruction managers to understand design schedules and high-level project timelines, and advise on complications of time.
  • Collaborate with preconstruction and operations, including key trade partners to develop a detailed baseline schedule before GMP.
  • Lead planning conversations and buildability meetings with preconstruction, operations and trade partners as design progresses to produce accurate schedules, phasing and plans.
  • Understand construction quantities and analyze drawings to produce accurate schedules.
  • Develop the first phasing and logistics plans to introduce operations and the wider team to the project.
  • Produce a detailed baseline schedule with the project superintendent and project manager that is complete and ready in time for NTP.
  • Carry out routine visits with the project team.
  • Provide operations leadership with a monthly progress update for each project. Lead a once per monthly schedule update on site with the project team , including construction and procurement, and reporting per Owner contract when required. Produce a monthly planning report to operations leaders.
  • Support the project team as work progresses to accurately update and maintain their baseline schedule for the duration of the project.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of construction progress relative to the baseline to provide maximum support to the project team and to update senior leadership.
  • If changes occur, support the project team in updating schedule logic, phasing, plans and if necessary, developing recovery strategies.
  • Support project team's efforts to work with design and owner to overcome challenges / unforeseen conditions as it relates to sequencing and project schedule.
  • Collaborate with project teams to assess current planning processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ability to scrutinize durations shown in project schedules to make them more realistic.
  • Assist teams with communicating with trade partners on durations for unique features of work.

Position Requirements
Candidate Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years construction scheduling experience
  • Analytical thinking and proactive mindset.
  • Able to collaborate on all levels.
  • Able to read construction drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency with both Microsoft Project and P6 Scheduling Software is required
  • Able to take off quantities with the Preconstruction team
  • Able to work between CORE's offices and construction sites.
  • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Complete and detailed experience with subcontractor and construction sequencing, construction interfaces.
  • Understanding of Lean building principles and the Last Planner System
  • Technology: Experience with Microsoft Office (Procore and TouchPlan are a plus)
  • Experience with CMAR and/or Design/Build delivery methods
  • Must work well in a team environment and be committed to client service
  • Must be willing to travel within the states of Arizona and to Idaho
  • A valid Driver's License
  • This is an exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act and the employee is not eligible for overtime compensation.
