Job description

We are seeking a dependable and adaptable Small Line Floater Operator to support our manufacturing team on 2nd shift. In this role, you will work across multiple machines within the small line department, ensuring smooth production flow, quality output, and a safe working environment.

This is a hands-on opportunity in a fast-paced setting where flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail are key. You will play a critical role in keeping operations running efficiently by supporting various machines, covering team needs, and maintaining high production standards.


Key Responsibilities

Production Support

  • Operate a variety of equipment including mixing, extruding, and grinding systems
  • Float between machines to support shift coverage, breaks, and staffing gaps
  • Assist with equipment cleaning and operate auxiliary machinery as needed
  • Meet production goals while maintaining safety and efficiency standards

Quality & Process Control

  • Monitor product quality throughout the production process
  • Follow all quality standards, Standard Work, and 6S practices
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure consistent output

Material Handling

  • Safely operate a forklift to move raw materials and finished goods
  • Follow all safety protocols for powered industrial equipment

Maintenance & Housekeeping

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance and report equipment issues promptly
  • Ensure proper storage and upkeep of tools and equipment

Additional Duties

  • Enter and review production data in company systems
  • Cross-train on all department equipment
  • Participate in safety and production meetings
  • Support SOP updates and process improvements

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
  • 1+ year of manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred
  • 1+ year of forklift experience required
  • Ability to learn and operate all department equipment within 6 months
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Basic math and measurement skills
  • Comfortable with computers and data entry (ERP experience a plus)
  • Strong commitment to safety and following procedures
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to wear required PPE and work at heights when necessary
