The Lakefront, Anchorage hotel (formerly the Millennium Hotel) is recruiting for full time, Line Cook to join our team. At the Lakefront Anchorage Hotel, we strive to deliver a memorable experience for our guests. Situated on the shores of scenic Lake Spenard, one mile from Anchorage International Airport and four miles from downtown Anchorage, the Lakefront Anchorage Hotel is the perfect starting point to explore the many wonders Alaska has to offer. The Lakefront Anchorage Hotel boasts 248 rooms and three outstanding food and beverage outlets.
The role of the line cook is to prepare meals according to our recipes and standards. They are also, responsible for prepping meal portions, cleaning food, cooking meals and keeping a sanitized work area.
We are seeking an individual who has experience in the food service industry and is committed to impeccable food presentation and garnishing, which is important for impressing our guests and creating repeat business while maintaining a clean environment and workspace.
Typical duties of the Line Cook include:

  • Prepares all the food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner.
  • Follows recipes, controls, portion, and presentation specifications as set by the restaurant.
  • A Line Cook also assumes 100% responsibility for quality of the products that is served.
  • Responsible for performing other related duties as assigned by the manager.
  • Following proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes.
  • Track and report any food waste.
  • Properly handle, store and rotate all the products.
  • Prepare dishes for costumers with food allergies or intolerances.
  • Responsible for station set-up, breakdown, and all advance prep work.
  • Keeping stations clean and well stocked with menu ingredients.
  • Keeping the kitchen clean and sanitized.
  • Monitors and oversees food temperatures during hot and cold handling.
  • Communicates with management product deficiencies, equipment, and safety issues.

Requirements

The successful applicant will:

  • At least one year of cooking experience, working as a team, in a fast-paced kitchen.
  • Knowledge of kitchen cleanliness.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage multiple priorities in a demanding work environment.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must be able to lift at least 20-40 pounds at a time on a regular basis.
  • Completes work in timely manner; Works quickly.
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment and utensils.
  • Prepare food in accordance with guest’s request and recipe standards.
  • Patience, tact and diplomacy.
  • Must have a valid food handlers’ card.
  • Work as a productive team member by contributing positive energy.
  • Perform the duties of the position in a safe manner.
  • Be professional in all interactions with associates.
