Job description

Position Title: Daily Experience Manager
Reporting Supervisor: Associate Director of Programs amp; Education
Location: Mary Lincoln Cottage
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Full-Time
Organizational Function: Manager/Front Line Supervisor
PURPOSE:
Supervise the Daily Experience Lead Guide and Experience Guides to create a positive experience for all guests. Manage the interpretive and programmatic elements of the visitor’s daily experience on our site. including exhibition-related programming, Betty’s Cabin, Little Free Libraries and the Backyard Garden.
This position offers a starting wage of $18.25 per hour, with final compensation determined based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (museum studies, anthropology, theater, public history, natural resources, education or similar) preferred. 1-3 years of experience with visitors or customers; experience in museum interpretation a plus.
  • Demonstrate supervisory and leadership experience.
  • Experience in the development of age-appropriate educational experiences.
  • Able to work with large and small groups of diverse ages and backgrounds with ease and to work individually and collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Possess strong communication, multitasking, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

The individual demonstrates maturity, sound judgment, positive attitude, and works collaboratively with peers and colleagues throughout the organization and community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carry out job function through completing the following essential duties directly or through subordinate personnel.
JOB DUTIES:
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate all daily experiences, ensuring alignment with the Minnetrista Philosophy of Visitor Engagement.
  • Interview and select staff. Develop and deliver a robust on-boarding and training program for staff and volunteers to cultivate the philosophy and practice needed.
  • Manage and direct the daily experience team, including volunteers. Manage part-time staff, including scheduling and performance management; provide back-up coverage as needed.
  • Develop and manage the budget for Daily Experiences in consultation with the Associate Director of Programs amp; Education; make purchases as needed and appropriate.
  • Support the experience and education department in programming implementation as needed, including lifelong learning, groups, families and school programs.
  • Collaborate with community partners and institutional staff to develop, implement and evaluate programs, including Family Adventure Day and Betty’s Cabin.
  • Perform all other duties required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work schedule flexibility is critical; will need to work some evenings and each weekend (Tuesday through Saturday schedule). Be able to move about the entire Minnetrista’s 40-acre campus. Work is both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Travel required between buildings. Must be able to work in a primarily sedentary office environment with desk, computer, phone, and files and in other spaces including outdoors. May involve standing on uneven surfaces, natural surfaces, or concrete floors for long periods of time. Must be able to stretch, carry, reach overhead and lift up to 20 lbs.
