Job description

a.i. solutions will support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Quality, Safety and Mission Assurance (QS) Directorate implementing quality and mission assurance requirements by providing independent assessment & evaluation of MDA field activities, critical contractors and program offices. The assessments focus on a) the program’s adherence to mission assurance policies, b) the contractor’s adherence to MDA mission assurance, quality, and reliability requirements, and c) the contractor’s adherence to their own internal policies and procedures. This assessment includes an in-depth evaluation of the MDA critical product and assesses its design, quality processes, manufacturing processes, inspections and tests, with the goal of identifying risks and mitigating them.

Essential Roles & Responsibilities: 

  • Provide on-site verification and auditing at Developer facilities to ensure that robust controls are in place for quality assurance practices including foreign object debris, electrostatic discharge, and contamination.   
  • provide technical evaluations of Developer designs for subcomponents, assemblies, and integrated systems associated with MDA programs; by providing subject matter expertise for the identification, evaluation, and mitigation of risks associated with various aspects of the design, development, manufacturing, fielding and operation of MDA systems.  
  • Function as acting Technical Assessment Co-Chair on designated MDA/DCMA Joint functional Technical Assessments reporting to government point of contact. 
  • Coordinate onsite supplier visit or teleconference with the assessed activity and provides oversight of assessments. 
  • Provide weekly status reports on activities and issues of concern. 
  • Support development of the assessment in-brief and conducts the opening meeting with the supplier and the designated Co-Chair. 
  • Review, comments, and provides concurrence of all findings output of the technical assessments with the Lead Auditor and designated Co-Chair. 
  • Manage and coordinate the daily turn-over of findings, participation in Assessment Team Meetings at the conclusion of each day's activities, and prepares/distributes daily End-of-Day Report email. 
  • Support review and comment of draft Technical Assessment Reports. 
  • Attend technical assessment coordination & planning meetings, report results 
  • Review of monthly & quarterly finding metrics 
  • Assist with developing, managing, and disseminating documentation 
  • Facilitate meetings, acting as liaison between USG and non-MDA communities. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience leading and executing extensive quality and mission assurance audit efforts. 
    • Acceptable Substitute: 15 years’ experience in leading quality and mission assurance auditing efforts. 
  • Experience leading and executing extensive quality and mission assurance auditing efforts for complex weapon systems, system elements, interfacing systems, components, devices and/or processes for operational programs. 
  • Experience providing technical, theoretical, and scientific knowledge of the quality and mission assurance standards, processes and related discipline. 
  • Experience managing the implementation of engineering across the Mission Assurance Program. 
  • Experience working independently and leading teams. 
  • Experience managing and participating in audits. 
  • Experience providing daily supervision and direction to contractor teams. 
  • Security Clearance requirements: Secret
