Job description

Building:  Hazel Park High School

Position:  English Teacher | FTE 0.5
Fiscal School Year: 2026-2027

SPECIFICS:

  • 10-months, 1/2 Time
  • Unaffiliated Salary Schedule.
  • Reports to: Building Principal.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate - with appropriate endorsement(s).
  • Must be Highly Qualified in English (BA/BX- Secondary).
  • Demonstrates teaching and leadership skills, as well as strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must meet No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Standards.
  • Demonstrates the ability to use technology to enhance teaching and learning: technology integration into the curriculum.

RESPONSIBLILITIES:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities.
  • Create positive educational climate for students to learn in.
  • Provide grades and administer assessments timely.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Provide on-going communication to parents on student progress and classroom activities.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures.
  • Practice proper classroom management techniques.
  • Engage students in learning process, differentiate as needed.
  • Other duties as directed.
