Job Title- Learning Designer

Project Location – Onsite in Chicago, IL

Duration- 6-18+ months contract

PURPOSE: We are seeking an experienced Learning Designer to support the design and delivery of industry-leading onboarding and training programs across our franchise hotel portfolio. This project-based role translates business priorities, operational realities, and leadership expectations into practical, engaging, and scalable learning experiences that prepare learners for success.
In this role, you will help advance Hyatt’s position as a leading hospitality company, joining a team committed to nurturing curiosity, building new skills and fostering meaningful connections across the organization.
This role is ideal for a learning designer who thrives in ambiguity, values partnership over handoffs, and brings both strategic thinking and hands-on development skills to a fast moving, outcome-driven engagement.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructional Program Design
• Partner with internal stakeholders, subject matter experts, and operational leaders to co-design a learning program, from concept through delivery
• Translate business goals, operational realities, and leadership expectations into clear learning outcomes, curricula, and learning journeys
• Design engaging, adult-learning-centered experiences that balance leadership capability development with real-world hotel operations
• Develop high-quality instructional assets, including facilitator guides, participant materials, digital content, and on-the-job learning tools
• Apply sound instructional design and learning science principles to create practical, scalable, and performance-based learning experiences
• Iterate on designs based on stakeholder feedback, learner insights, and pilot results
• Ensure learning content aligns with brand standards, organizational culture, and existing learning frameworks
• Contribute thought partnership by identifying opportunities to improve learning effectiveness learning engagement and on-property application
• Manage work effectively within limited-term project timelines and budgets, contributing to outcome-driven results while meeting agreed-upon milestones and deliverables
My Learning Administration
• Working knowledge of learning management systems (LMS), including structuring courses, uploading content, and supporting learner navigation
• Experience designing learning solutions with LMS capabilities and constraints in mind
• Ability to collaborate with LMS administrators or technical partners to ensure effective implementation of learning designs
Communication and Coordination
• Serve as a primary point of coordination between learning stakeholders, subject matter experts, and delivery partners throughout the design and development process
• Facilitate working sessions, design reviews, and checkpoints to align on learning objectives, content direction and delivery approach
• Communicate progress, risks, dependencies clearly and proactively to project partners and sponsors
• Incorporate feedback efficiently while maintaining design integrity and alignment to agreed-upon learning objectives
Maintain clear documentation of design decisions, timelines, and deliverables to support transparency and continuity.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
• Proven experience as a learning design, instructional designer, or learning experience designer, with a portfolio of end-to-end program design work
• Demonstrated ability to design adult learning experiences that are practical, engaging, and performance-focused
• Experience partnering with subject matter experts and business stakeholders to translate complex content into clear learning outcomes and solutions
• Strong instructional design skills including curriculum design, learning journey mapping, and development of facilitator-led and blended learning assets
• Comfort working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments, with the ability to make progress with incomplete inputs
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a clear point of view and partnership mindset
• Ability to manage work independently within a limited term-milestone driven engagement.
Preferred
• Experience designing learning for front-line leaders, multi-unit operators, or general management roles
• Background in hospitality, retail, restaurants, or other operationally complex, people-driven industries
• Experience designing onboarding or readiness programs for leadership transitions
• Familiarity with franchise or distributed operating models
• Experience piloting, iterating, and refining learning programs based on learner and stakeholder feedback.
