DESCRIPTION:
The Director of Professional Learning and Coaching partners closely with the Academy Leadership Team to build educator capacity and improve student outcomes through high-quality, aligned professional learning and effective instructional coaching systems. This role ensures that professional learning across the district is strategic, coherent, and tightly connected to instructional priorities, Utah core standards, and the district's vision for learning. In collaboration with district and school leaders, the Director works to ensure all professional learning and coaching efforts are relevant, impactful, and responsive to the evolving needs of educators, schools, and students.
The Director oversees the design, implementation, and evaluation of professional learning systems, with a strong emphasis on instructional coaching, PLC development, leadership training, and ongoing educator support, including the effective integration of technology and digital tools to enhance teaching and learning. This position prioritizes continuous improvement, evidence-based practices, and the use of data to guide instructional and schoolwide growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  




  • Lead the development and implementation of a districtwide professional learning and coaching system aligned to instructional priorities
  • Design and support high-quality professional learning for teachers, instructional coaches, and administrators
  • Develop, support, and oversee instructional coaching systems, including frameworks, training, and ongoing development for coaches
  • Strengthen Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to ensure a focus on student learning, collaboration, and results
  • Facilitate leadership development opportunities for principals, assistant principals, and district leaders
  • Ensure alignment of professional learning with Utah core standards, district curriculum, and assessment systems
  • Use data to evaluate the effectiveness of professional learning and coaching and guide continuous improvement efforts
  • Develop and support technology-focused professional learning and coaching that builds educator capacity in digital instruction, blended learning, and AI-supported practices
  • Collaborate with Teaching and Learning, Technology, and other departments to integrate instructional best practices, including the effective use of digital tools, blended learning, and AI
  • Coordinate districtwide trainings, workshops, and learning events, ensuring consistency and quality across schools
  • Support change management efforts related to instructional initiatives and district priorities
  • Manage professional learning budgets, resources, and vendor partnerships
  • Stay informed on current research and best practices in professional learning, instructional coaching, adult learning theory, and educational technology

Academic and Technology Coaching PLC Support Professional Development Programs Leadership Development Training and Learning Systems
QUALIFICATIONS:     




  • Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or related field
  • USBE Instructional Coaching Endorsement preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in instructional leadership, professional learning, coaching, or school administration
  • Deep understanding of PLC processes, instructional coaching, and adult learning theory
  • Experience designing and delivering professional learning and coaching systems at the school and district level
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices
  • Ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable professional learning and coaching strategies
  • Experience supporting educators in effective technology integration and digital instructional practices
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change, build capacity, and collaborate across teams
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and organizational skills
