Position Summary: The Assistant Branch Manager is responsible for supporting the operations of the branch and partnering with the Branch Manager on continuous development of the retail staff in their training, knowledge and execution of their responsibilities. This position is responsible for assisting with enhancing client engagement experiences, and service all consumer, business, and lending needs.


Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Leadership: Support Branch Manager with motivating a team of cross trained bankers by providing leadership, training, coaching, and conducting development discussions while demonstrating client excellence qualities themselves. Provides on the spot coaching and development to retail staff by recognizing positive contributions and addressing concerns promptly as they arise, in partnership with the Branch Manager.
  • Training and Development: Partners on training initiatives for retail staff and branch staff to enhance product knowledge, deposit related controls, compliance requirements, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities that create confidence and ownership to enhance client experience. Supports branch staff training on security topics which may include robbery, fraud, and weather-related emergency procedures. Encourage professional development in staff and consistent career pathing discussions.
  • Client Service: Performs daily administrative activities such as opening new deposit accounts, consumer lending, maintaining client information on the Banks’ core system and other required tasks as needed..
  • Community Involvement: Build and maintain community relationships and represent the Bank by participating and leading community events that enhance the Bank’s presence and promote community engagement. Support local communities through volunteer activities, sponsorships, donations, and identify opportunities to promote financial literacy, like networking, parades, fairs, and school partnerships within the community. Promote and encourage staff participation in community events and encourage and support volunteer opportunities.
  • Compliance: Partner with Branch Managers to oversee branch controls and audit requirements to ensure timely and accurate completion, Assist coaching teams to expectations of accurate and timely branch controls. Become knowledgeable of quality control metrics to Identify trends and opportunities for improvement and provide bankers with learning and development resources. Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, privacy policies, industry standards, and internal policies and procedures.
  • Deposit Generation: Deepen client relationships through self-initiated client servicing and training of retail staff in meaningful conversations focused on learning the needs and goals of our clients, making recommendations, and continuing follow up conversations to strengthen full banking relationships. Work with community organizations, businesses, school partnerships to build further deposit relationships.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about industry’s best practices and emerging trends in client experience management, client products and service’s needs, and identify opportunities for process enhancements.
  • Branch Management: Assist with the procurement of branch supplies and physical resources needed. Assist Branch Manager with facility and maintenance needs, acting as a point of contact within the branch to ensure a safe and functional environment for employees and clients.
  • Data Analysis: Review and analyze branch metrics and make recommendations for opportunities where we can allocate resources as needed, improve employee experience, support staff with further development, continuous process improvements, enhance client experience, improve product and services offering, and generate overall branch growth.

Education and Experience:

  1. Associates’ degree in business administration or a related field, or equivalent working experience preferred
  2. Two to Four (2-4) years of retail banking experience required.
  3. One to three (1-3) years of management/leadership experience preferred.
