Job description

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the dean(Associate/School Dean), PALs use their knowledge, experience, and training to welcomeand guide incoming first-year students through their first semester/academicyear.  Assist with the coordination ofand provide firsthand insights into school-based programming, extracurricularactivities, and serve as a resource agent regarding other academic supportservices. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and other student leaders tostrengthen the overall student experience. This role is essential in supportingstudent engagement, belonging, and retention.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist with school-based onboarding and programming initiatives, academic-related outreach activities and events
  • Help students understand how to access college and school resources and assist with referrals (e.g., counseling, advising, tutoring, financial assistance)
  • Serve as a positive role model, promoting active learning and engagement with faculty, campus organizations and events to foster a sense of belonging
  • Provide information on career-related and experiential learning opportunities
  • Assist with communication and outreach initiatives related to retention efforts
  • Assist with FYE programming, workshops, and success initiatives
  • May conduct Student Success workshops and info sessions
