Job Summary
At Mountain America, the Sr. Learning Experience Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and evaluating high-impact learning experiences that support business priorities, build capability and improve employee performance. This role brings advanced expertise in instructional design, learning strategy, content development, project management, and learning assessment to create scalable programs and curricula for diverse, cross-functional audiences. The Sr. Learning Experience Designer partners closely with business stakeholders, Learning and Development leaders, program managers, subject matter experts, and other designers to deliver effective, engaging, and measurable learning solutions across the credit union.
Job Description

Learning Strategy and Needs Analysis
  • Lead strategic learning initiatives by consulting with business leaders, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to assess and identify performance gaps, define learning objectives, and design scalable learning solutions that align with business priorities and drive measurable impact.
  • Translate complex, ambiguous challenges into actionable insights and learning strategies by connecting data to learning and business outcomes, stakeholder input, and business context to identify root causes and system-level solutions.

Stakeholder Engagement and Influence
  • Lead stakeholder engagement by facilitating meetings, influencing decisions, driving alignment, and ensuring proactive follow-through.
  • Partner with stakeholders and program managers to clarify expectations, resolve issues, and support successful project outcomes.
  • Foster positive team member and stakeholder experiences through responsive, respectful, and solution-focused service.
  • Collaborate with facilitators and business partners to support effective delivery, adoption, and reinforcement of learning programs.
  • Guide, coach, and peer review other learning designers to strengthen quality, consistency, and team capability.

Instructional Design and Learning Development
  • Develop design plans, storyboards, prototypes, and learning assets that translate approved learning strategies into effective, engaging learning experiences.
  • Create engaging learning experiences across modalities, including eLearning, instructor-led training, microlearning, video, and performance support tools.
  • Aid in developing capability through practice, experimentation, collaboration, and reflection in the flow of work.
  • Apply creative, evidence-based design approaches that build capability, improve learner engagement, and strengthen performance outcomes.

Learning Evaluation, Data Analysis, and Continuous Improvement
  • Partner with Learning Program Managers to evaluate learning experiences against clear objectives and measurable outcomes by analyzing performance data, learner behavior, feedback, and observed application.
  • Synthesize insights into clear reports, visual summaries, and recommendations that improve learning effectiveness, efficiency, and business impact.
  • Stay current on learning trends, instructional design practices, technology tools, and emerging approaches to strengthen learning solutions.

Project Management and Execution
  • Manage multiple learning projects with a high degree of autonomy, making sound decisions, prioritizing work, and delivering results with minimal oversight.
  • Produce high-quality deliverables at scale while maintaining accuracy, clarity, consistency, and audience relevance.
  • Maintain organized project documentation, including design plans, storyboards, timelines, decisions, and evaluation data.

Technology, Innovation, and Professional Growth
  • Leverage tools such as Storyline, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, data analytics platforms, and emerging technologies to create dynamic, data-informed learning experiences.
  • Pilot AI, gamification, adaptive learning, and process improvements that increase innovation, efficiency, and learning impact.
