Job Title: Process Engineer
Location: New Market, VA
Job Summary:
The Engineer Process position supports metal-cutting manufacturing operations. Role enables production performance that is viable in terms of cost, quality, and delivery while meeting environmental, health, and safety standards. This position supports steel cutting tool manufacturing; identifying opportunities to improve processes through the application of new equipment and systems, improved programming techniques, process evaluation/improvements, and other engineering-related areas. The Engineer Process supports all areas of plant operations. Scope of responsibilities includes cnc milling, cnc turning, cnc grinding, induction brazing, EDM, heat treatment, surface treatment, additive manufacturing, and the maintenance of all equipment, process and the facility. Works directly under the supervision of Manager Process Engineering.
Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Determine manufacturing process including creating routings and bill of materials, identifying and procuring needed tooling, and designing work holding and gauges
  • Coordinate with Production Planning, Quality Assurance, CNC Programming, and Manufacturing to manage preproduction process to planned lead times
  • Evaluate product designs for manufacturability and make improvement recommendations
  • Provide manufacturing support with direct action, assistance, or coordination for quality and productivity improvements, issues and problems, and capital purchases
  • Supervise and provide direction for maintenance team; coordinating maintenance activities and managing maintenance budget
  • Communicate and coordinate with machine manufactures or 3rd party services to address machine issues
  • Develop project plans, budgets, team selection, and assign activities. Conduct progress reviews, implement corrective actions, assure all EHS guidelines and requirements are met and report progress to plant management
  • Prepare metrics, progress, status, and reports on key aspects of the assigned area of responsibility
  • Develop and/or transition new processes to manufacturing
  • Perform analysis and develop recommendations in support of achieving business objectives
  • Develop, improve, and standardize manufacturing processes, including writing work instructions, procedures, and control plans

Education, Work Experience, Skills, Certificates
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience required
  • Experience in metal-cutting and CNC preferred
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office and CAD/CAM software, NX preferred
  • Effective communication with shopfloor employees and cross functional departments to coordinate production activities.
  • 5 years of experience in engineering industries is preferred. Knowledge on carbide tool manufacturing process.
  • Knowledge on production planning and scheduling.
  • Knowledge on SAP
