Job description

Position Overview

Mural Group is partnering with a global manufacturing organization to hire a Process Engineer focused on coatings and adhesive applications within a high-volume production environment. This role is responsible for optimizing how materials are applied, cured, and validated to ensure consistent product quality and performance. You will play a key role in reducing defects, improving process capability, and supporting production through hands-on engineering and troubleshooting.


What You’ll Do

  • Design and optimize coating and adhesive application processes including spray, dip, curing, and surface preparation
  • Evaluate and test new coating materials, adhesives, and sealants for specific product applications
  • Perform root cause analysis on coating defects, adhesion failures, and material-related issues
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including SOPs, work instructions, and quality standards
  • Lead process trials, validate results, and manage testing budgets
  • Partner with planning, design, and production teams to ensure manufacturability and efficient process flow
  • Apply statistical methods to analyze performance and improve process capability
  • Improve existing processes to reduce scrap, increase yield, and lower production cost
  • Support minor tooling adjustments and collaborate with machine shop on fixtures and new tooling
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and production data to resolve design and manufacturing issues
  • Own quality outcomes for the process, including authority to stop production for nonconforming material
  • Modify tooling and process parameters based on trial and production data to improve performance and durability
  • Maintain compliance with engineering standards, safety requirements, and environmental regulations


What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing with exposure to coatings, adhesives, or surface treatment processes
  • Strong understanding of coating application methods and curing systems
  • Experience with adhesion testing and surface characterization techniques
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot process issues and drive root cause resolution
  • Mechanical aptitude with hands-on approach to problem solving
