Plastic Molding Technology (PMT) manufactures high precision plastic parts for automotive, telecommunications, medical device, renewable energy, and industrial customers. The primary manufacturing processes are injection molding and thermoforming. PMT has ~100 injection molding presses at its two primary manufacturing locations in El Paso, TX and Centennial, CO (a suburb of Denver).

Role Description:
The Process Engineer is responsible for engineering activities focused on injection molding and associated manufacturing processes. This role involves process design, optimization, troubleshooting, and innovation for polymer-based products. The Process Engineer ensures consistent quality, efficiency, and reliability of manufacturing processes while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and optimize injection molding and extrusion processes to ensure consistent quality and efficiency
  • Design, test, and validate tooling, equipment, and processes for new product introductions
  • Monitor and troubleshoot production processes to resolve issues and improve performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives and cost-saving measures
  • Assist with investigations into process deviations, root causes, and corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and company quality systems, including IATF 16949, AS9100, ISO 9001, and customer requirements
  • Manage supplier relationships for tooling and raw materials, ensuring quality and delivery timelines are met
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices for polymer processing
  • Provide technical support and training to production and maintenance teams regarding molding and extrusion equipment
  • Lead projects related to process development, scale-up, and commercialization of new polymer products
  • Analyze data to identify trends, improve process efficiency, and reduce scrap rates
  • Contribute to a safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols and conducting regular risk assessments
  • Ensure materials compatibility and evaluate raw materials to meet performance requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • 1-5 years of injection molding experience or Bachelor’s degree in plastics engineering
  • Proficiency with CAD software
  • Experience following work instructions, process documentation, and procedures to ensure safe working conditions
  • A team-driven attitude to work together and support department initiatives
  • The ability to complete production paperwork, which includes inventory accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communications required
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills
