Job Description:
Lab Technician
Rubicon is seeking a Lab technician supporting the Polyurethanes Division located in Geismar. This position will report to the Lab Shift Leader.
Job Scope
The Lab Technician supports manufacturing operations by performing analytical testing, ensuring product quality, and maintaining laboratory equipment. Using established quantitative and qualitative methods, this role analyzes process and finished-product samples to help ensure safe, compliant, and efficient production.
In summary, as the Lab technician, you will:
  • Perform analytical testing on process and finished-product samples using approved methods and laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure product quality by identifying variances and communicating findings to Production, the Shift Leader, and Safety personnel.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and workspace in clean, safe, and compliant condition.
  • Follow all safety procedures, wear proper PPE, and actively identify and report hazards.
  • Participate in ISO 9000 quality requirements and maintain training proficiency.
  • Respond to emergency events as part of First Responder responsibilities and participate in regular drills.
  • Follow proper procedures for segregation and disposal of laboratory waste.
  • Perform accurate and timely shift relief and work overtime as needed.
  • Support a positive and collaborative work environment.

Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Rubicon in the United States.
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 12 hours of college-level chemistry coursework
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment operation and maintenance
  • Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and DEQ regulations

Skills and knowledge
  • Strong commitment to safety and hazard recognition.
  • Ability to follow standardized testing methodologies.
  • Clear communication across operations teams.
  • Good organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • State of Louisiana First Responder certification

Working Environment
  • 12-hour rotating shifts
  • Employ visual-perception and fine-motor skills for typical laboratory activities
  • Stand/walk for 2 hour periods without sitting and commonly for longer periods as the work load requires
  • Frequently lift 25 pounds when handling waste containers
  • Occasionally move a 55-gallon drum using a drum handler
  • Infrequently climb 1 flight of stairs for building maintenance
  • Drive a forklift on infrequent occasions
  • Visually determine color differences, particularly in colorimetric titrations
