Histology Technician  – 2nd Shift or Night Shift

Pleasant Prairie, WI | Full-Time | Monday–Friday, Shifts: 3pm-11:30pm or 8:00 PM–4:30 AM

You’ll work with tissue specimens, prepare slides for microscopic examination, operate cutting-edge equipment, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure seamless workflow throughout the histology lab. What You’ll Do

  • Accession and receive tissue specimens.

  • Prepare and process specimens for microscopic examination.

  • Perform grossing and inking activities as allowed under CLIA requirements.

  • Prepare media, reagents, chemicals, and solutions.

  • Conduct tissue processing, embedding, microtomy/cutting, staining, cryostat use, and freezing.

  • Label and prepare high-quality slides for pathology review.

  • Examine slides microscopically to identify abnormalities, reporting deviations with oversight.

  • Identify and troubleshoot issues that may impact diagnostic accuracy.

  • Preserve, store, log, file, and track specimens and slides.

  • Maintain and clean instruments, equipment, and laboratory work areas.

  • Manage supply inventory to support continuous workflow.

  • Complete Agency-required QA/QC documentation accurately and on time.

  • Participate in compliance training and adhere to all regulatory standards.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Associate’s Degree required

  • Completion of a NAACLS-accredited histology training program required

  • Preferred CLIA qualifications to perform specified job duties:

    • Minimum 60 semester hours including:

      • 24 hours in medical lab technology OR

      • 24 hours combined across chemistry, biology, and medical technology (with at least 6 hours each in chemistry and biology)

      • Plus 3 months documented lab training in high-complexity testing

  • Previous histology technician experience preferred

  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, tissue pathology, standard lab concepts, and procedures

  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • High integrity and confidentiality with sensitive information

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ability to learn new software quickly

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and leadership

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively in a dynamic laboratory setting

  • Ability to operate lab and office equipment

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods during the workday
