Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

The Lab Aide will assist with genotyping mice and general mouse husbandry. This person will also be responsible for general laboratory duties, such as preparation of lab stock solutions, lab maintenance, and emptying biohazard waste.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with genotyping and mouse husbandry.
  • Prepare media and reagents, such as stock solutions.
  • Restock lab supplies.
  • Empty biohazard waste.
  • May assist with experiments and set-up.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Preparation for experiments through making reagents/ buffers/ gathering protocols / labeling.
  • In vitro cell culture.
  • Mouse dissection and organ harvest, cell isolation.
  • Mouse handling and breeding.
  • Lab maintenance skills.
  • Genotyping of animals using flow cytometry.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent with an interest in the sciences.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enrollment in a university-level science degree program (e.g. biology, chemistry, or biochemistry).
  • Previous or current coursework in biology and/or chemistry and past laboratory experience.
  • Demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to learn new skills quickly is essential.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $21.30 to $30.13 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health, well-being, and financial security.
