Job description

The Simulation & Skills Lab Assistant supports the daily operations of the Pacific College’s nursing simulation and skills laboratories. This role is responsible for preparing, maintaining, and organizing lab environments, equipment, and supplies to ensure high-quality, realistic learning experiences for students. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and technologically proficient, with the ability to support simulation-based education in a fast-paced academic setting.


Key Responsibilities

Simulation & Skills Lab Setup

  • Prepare, set up, and break down simulation scenarios and skills lab sessions according to faculty specifications
  • Arrange Manikins, task trainers, medical equipment, and supplies to accurately reflect clinical environments
  • Reset labs between sessions to ensure readiness and efficiency

Equipment & Technology Support

  • Demonstrate technical proficiency in creating and modifying simulated medications, IV fluids, and clinical equipment setups
  • Troubleshoot basic technical issues and coordinate repairs as needed

Inventory & Supply Management

  • Maintain accurate inventory of lab supplies, equipment, and consumables
  • Organize storage areas to ensure accessibility, cleanliness, and compliance with safety standards
  • Monitor usage levels and proactively order supplies to maintain optimal stock levels
  • Receive, label, and stock incoming inventory

Lab Maintenance & Organization

  • Ensure labs are clean, organized, and compliant with infection control and safety protocols
  • Perform routine equipment checks and preventive maintenance
  • Assist with periodic audits of equipment and supplies

Collaboration & Support

  • Assist with special projects, lab improvements, and accreditation preparation as needed
  • Provide general support during simulation/skills lab activities when required
  • Occasional travel to Pacific College affiliate campuses
  • Some evening and weekend hours may be required


Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Basic technical proficiency with computers and audiovisual equipment
  • Ability to lift, move, and set up equipment (up to 30–90 lbs)
